Timing Belts
If your vehicle has at least 40,000 miles and you've never had your timing belt replaced you may consider doing so. Check your owners manual for exact recommended mileage replacement and do NOT go beyond. Not all cars have a timing belt (some have a chain), but if your car does and it breaks you may damage your engine severely. In fact, it may be destroyed. Give us a call and we'll check your manufacturers recommendations on our computer, in case you don't have the manual. You'll need to schedule an appointment as most timing belt jobs take up to two hours. The timing belt is not the belt that is visible under the hood. It is enclosed inside the timing cover and should be replaced at the recommended mileage, not simply when you notice wear and tear on the other visible belts. Occasionally, timing chains need replacement, and we perform that service also. Back
